Terry Francis - Interview

Terry Francis is one multitalented individual. His productions for labels such as Surreal and Pagan are the evidence, although he is best known as a DJ. The Architecture mix CD series was wildly popular, and certainly helped to spread the recognition of this London artist worldwide.
His work with Nathan Coles is highly touted; indeed their Wiggle label and productions as 'Housey Doingz' has broken down some barriers for the duo.
Terry mixed the Fabric 02 CD for his club of choice, and the place where he holds down his residency, last month. The smoothest of smooth tech-house, this mix is one to rival the vision of the Architecture mixes.
Never one to be pigeonholed, Terry's sound is one that flows between the deep tech-house realm to classic house and the occasional new-school funky house jams. Enough rambling from me; I was lucky enough to ask Terry a few questions so let's see what the man himself had to say about all this:

DHN: How would you describe your sound?
Terry Francis: House

DHN: Who would you list as your influences?
T.F. Funk, Soul, Eddie Richards

DHN: What artists' records are crowding your box right now? Who is producing the sickest music right now?
T.F. I like a lot of Pete Moss' productions.

DHN: Yeah, I like his old stuff on Earthtones … so what artists would you most love to remix or collaborate with?
T.F. Any good vocalist and [one who] appreciates music the same as I do.

DHN: What was the best gig you've ever played?
T.F. Can't remember

DHN: The worst?
T.F. My 7 year old daughter has just said 'daddy you must never remember the bad times in your life - only the good'. If I could.

DHN: What is it that makes Fabric such a special place to play?
T.F. The music, the place, the people who work there.

DHN: The Fabric/Fabriclive mix CD series is full of innovative ideas. What do you think is the most attractive aspect of this project?
T.F. Its completely your shout

DHN: What do you expect to see in the future at Fabric?
T.F. Good stuff

DHN: Other than a Sunday Roast … is there any good English food?
T.F. eels

DHN: What is your favorite food?
T.F. Sunday Roast actually

DHN: Describe your 'happy place'…
T.F. DJing
