Label Profile: Twijit Recordings (US)

Twijit (pronounced like midget) Recordings (just incase you were having trouble) Based in Atlanta, GA, USA.

The label was originally formed in the summer of 2002 by Jonathan Edwards and Ian Lee who were longtime DJ partners. Having previously DJ’d under the names Twitch and DJIT respectively they slammed their DJ names together to form Twijit Productions, which later became the record label name. Due to personal reasons Ian has since moved on leaving Jonathan Edwards the sole owner. Local DJ Daniel Gresham has since signed on to do some A&R work for the label The record label was formed because of our sincere love for the Deep and Funky sides of House and our commitment to bring Atlanta producers to the attention of the International House community.

The label will release mostly House music with a smattering of Downtempo and Trip Hop here and there. The House music will span from Deep to Funky as hell.

The label’s philosophy is one of calculated experimentation. They believe in the talent around them in Atlanta and want to share it with the world but know that people need something they can recognize and are often cautious with the unknown. Therefore their release policy will be that for every 4 releases or so 2 will be by artists they recognize and 2 will be locals they are trying to showcase. They label will also have some of these lesser know producers remixed by some big timers to give them the exposure they deserve. A spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down ...

The label’s cites many of house music’s well known best assets for the inspiration such as, Chris Lum, Jay-J, JT Donaldson, Inland Knights, PCSynergy, Vincenzo, Lawnchair Generals, Johnny Fiasco, Charles Webster, Layo & Bushwacka, Pepe Braddock, DIY, Tom Middleton, and Silicone Soul….just to name a few.

With already one smacking release under their belt and a second just ready to drop, the boys at Twijit have been very busy building up an impressive line up if artists, check some of these out:

  • Chris Lum- Co-owner of Moulton Studios and one of the most prolific producers in House music today. If your reading this and you don’t know him get to your record store immediately.
  • PCSynergy- Jacksonville, Florida Production duo and DJ’s Catharsis(Scott Peterson) and Phil Green known for their deep ,techy ,soulful vibe.
  • DJ Kemit- Legendary local Atlanta producer who used to be Arrested Developments DJ has his hands in everything from Hip Hop to House and he does it all incredibly well.
  • Fever Audio- New Production trio from Atlanta consisting of Lorin Wade, Gregg Allen, and Tony Rise. What can we say other than they are writing their history as we write this.
  • Watts Steady - Definitely the strangest one of the bunch. Even he doesn’t really understand his own angles on house music.
  • The Double Agents- We didn’t start this label just to release other peoples records. We do it too.
  • Dirty Soul Selectas- Tag team combo with a filthy appeal. Born & Bread in the Dirty South. Longtime Atlanta natives & selectors Kevin O & Watts Steady.
